Tell us about your brand?
Nectar is a way of life. We grew up skating, surfing and snowboarding and during those moments we had the most fun of our lives. We feel that same stoke even now when we partake in those activities and really when we do anything that we love. That’s what our brand is about. The sweet life – whatever it may be to you. Another one of our mottos is “Do epic shit” – which speaks for itself. When our customers put on our sunnies they feel good because they look good and that transcends into their whole attitude. Nectar’s attitude is to do what you love and love what you do.
Who is your customer, what type of people are you selling to?
Our customer is active, likes to have fun and doesn’t want to worry about wearing $200 sunglasses when they are partying. They wear them while snowboarding on a bluebird day or SUPing on the lake. Our sunnies are worn by trendsetters and action sports athletes all over the world with our top riders being Jamie O’Brien and Jan Kralj. Skaters, surfers, artists, musicians, bmx, motox – all of these people live their sweet life and want to look good in our sunnies.
What is your distribution model and where are the glasses available in Canada?
At the moment we are looking for distributors in Canada. We are in over 20 countries worldwide and use a mix of sales rep/agent and distributors. We have been selling our product in Akela Surf Shop. We have been doing very well with online sales to Canada and it is our 5th most trafficked country.
Where do you sit on the price scale?
Average retail is $25 (M.S.R.P U.S.A) for UV400 and $35 (MSRP U.S.A) for Polarized models. Our price point is great in the fact that our customers don’t just buy one; they buy two or three at one time.
Tell us about some of your products and product features.
Our new Banyan and Bungalow modes both offer matte finish tortoise shell colors that we have never seen on the market along with mirrored lenses. Super bright colors make them great for having fun and doing epic shit. All of our frames are the same size and shape. That is another aspect that makes our brand unique. We have limitless options for us to launch and literally all of them sell well.
